Monday Quiz Challenge | I feel stupid edition
Each week, Talk Wordy to Me challenges readers to beat the word nerd in a quiz challenge and post their scores in the comments.
It shouldn’t be too hard to beat me this week. I found a really hard quiz that asks you to identify doublets, “word pairs that trace a common source.”
Make sure to keep track of your score, this site doesn’t do it for you.
I got a 2 out of 10. Lame.

I managed four. Disappointed!
I got four. I have been humbled.
I got four, too. Spot the trend. I knew seminar, though, was from semen, because one of my favourite ‘shock the students’ tactics is to tell them that some organisations have banned the word ‘disseminate’ when describing the distribution of information because it is seen as sexist. Whether male or female, the students can’t believe it.
Three for me. Dolt moi.
I’m afraid I got six, if I’m counting correctly. Sorry, but I knew many of them beforehand. I tripped up on the sem- pair, though.
Um, I got nine. All but the sem- question, probably because I’m a prude.
Since I got only 2, I am not publicly admitting who I am.. haha
