Encarta has a ton of quizzes, though not many seem to be word related. But here’s another one with a slew of words I’d never heard before. I got a 5 out of 10 and learned a bunch of new words.
I got 7 of 10 through pure dumb luck. If I saw the words used in context, I think I’d have a shot at defining them. If I saw the words alone (without multiple choice answers), there’s no way in hell I could have defined any except maybe 2 of them.
Yeah- 5 of 10 for me. I’m not too ashamed to admit that there was only one word that I was 100% sure of.
6, but I only ‘knew’ 4 of them, so 2 were guesses. Dyspnoea I knew because I used to be a medical secretary (and still spell it the old British way with the weird Greek letter formation). The Japanese word I knew because my daughter’s doing the subject at uni.
