About
Hi, I’m Brian White, and I’m a word nerd.
It even pays the bills. I’m an LMS (slot) editor on the news copy desk at The Boston Globe. I started here in October 2010 after working for four years on the sports copy desk at The Courier-Journal in Louisville.
I was born and raised in Philadelphia, in a house filled with books.
I went to Central High School (260!) and Temple University. Before the C-J, I spent four years at the Temple News, a summer apiece at the Detroit Free Press and St. Petersburg Times, and a year as a reporter at the Daily News in Bowling Green, Ky.
That’s it. Those are my credentials. I’m 29. I’m no expert on lexicography, and I’m too young to even be an expert on editing. This blog is simply my accounting of things I find interesting about the English language, especially words. And if I see something odd or otherwise intriguing that is unrelated to language, I’ll probably be posting that too.
You can e-mail me at brian@talkwordy.com. I am also on Twitter.
Thanks for reading.

Well done on the March 17 article in the Philly Inquirer.
