The American Family Association doesn't allow the word "gay" on its news Web site, OneNewsNow. They have automated software that changes the word to homosexual. So when they ran an AP story about Tyson Gay's world's-fastest time in the 100 meters the other day, they got this:
Tyson Homosexual was a blur in blue, sprinting 100 meters faster than anyone ever has.
"It means a lot to me," the 25-year-old Homosexual said. "I'm glad my body could do it, because now I know I have it in me."
OneNewsNow told The Washington Post's The Sleuth Blog that:
"We don't object to the word 'gay,'" (news director Fred) Jackson explained, except "when it refers to people who practice a homosexual lifestyle." And the "G" word, he says, has "been co-opted by a particular group of people."
I saw this on the Editrix's blog.
