When he gets to Heaven ...

Everyone knows what today is the anniversary of. It set off what is now nearly a decade of war. There are a few lines of verse in Robert Leckie's Helmet for My Pillow that capture a glimpse up the horrors of war, no matter what century:

There was this verse, which I have seen countless times, before and since, the direct and unpolished cry of a Marine's sardonic heart:
